Stade Rennais are considering a move for AS Saint-Étienne winger Zuriko Davitashvili (24), according to a report from L’Équipe.
Rennes’ squad, after an underwhelming mid-table finish last season, will be revamped this summer. There will be an emphasis on departures with lots of players surplus to requirements at the Breton club. However, the club’s new sporting director, Loïc Désiré, is also working on incomings.
Les Rennais are in the market for a winger and have identified Saint-Étienne’s Davitashvili as a target. Whilst inconsistent in his output, the forward did nonetheless register 17 goal contributions (nine goals, eight assists) in Ligue 1 last season. ASSE finished the season second from bottom and will return to Ligue 2 next season. Their strong financial footing means that, unlike other relegated sides, they don’t need a fire sale this summer.
Davitashvili is also of interest to clubs in Turkey. However, as of now, there have not yet been any offers for the Saint-Étienne winger.
