As Liverpool prepare for a significant summer of transfer business following their Premier League title win under Arne Slot, attention has turned sharply to two rising European stars: Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez. According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Anfield hierarchy remain relaxed over the status of both deals, despite growing anticipation among fans.
While Liverpool supporters are eagerly awaiting official announcements, Romano has urged calm across multiple updates. On Friday, the transfer expert posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “Relax with Florian and Kerkez”, accompanied by a meditation emoji. Later that day, he followed up: “Again for Liverpool… relax for both Wirtz and Kerkez. All proceeding in the right direction.”
That public reassurance has been backed by a fresh update from Romano via his YouTube channel, where he revealed that Liverpool are due to meet with Bournemouth next week in a bid to finalise a deal for Kerkez. As for Florian Wirtz, Romano reports that an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen is “close”, with only “final details” remaining before the deal can be completed.
The sense of urgency among sections of the Liverpool fanbase is understandable. Wirtz, who starred in Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning season, would arrive at Anfield as the club’s record signing. A fee exceeding £109 million has been reported, and Leverkusen’s determination to extract maximum value is delaying the announcement.
Still, there is confidence from all sides that Wirtz wants to move to Merseyside. His preference for Liverpool, combined with a near-finalised personal agreement, makes the possibility of a last-minute hijack from other top clubs extremely unlikely.
Kerkez, meanwhile, has been absent from Hungary’s international squad, with national coach Marco Rossi referring to a “problem” involving the 21-year-old left-back. The comment has only fuelled speculation about his impending switch to Liverpool, but Romano’s updates indicate that this is a calculated absence with a resolution expected soon.

Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes has been instrumental since his arrival, and the Wirtz and Kerkez moves are shaping up to be an early statement of intent under his leadership. With Arne Slot keen to integrate fresh talent ahead of his second season in charge, speed and precision in the market will be key.
There is a growing expectation that both signings will be wrapped up within the next week or two, ensuring Slot has ample time to integrate them before the pre-season tour. The club are aware that supporters want clarity, but as Romano hints, the finishing touches on high-value deals can take time.
In a window where swift progress is often demanded by social media timelines, Liverpool’s calculated patience could be what ultimately delivers two headline-making signings.

With a first major signing already secured this summer, and Wirtz and Kerkez edging ever closer, Liverpool are laying down serious intent ahead of a new campaign where expectation will be sky-high once again.
