Tijjani Reijnders revealed it was a dream come true to score and assist on his City Premier League debut in Saturday's 4-0 victory over Wolves.

City made it 14 opening fixture victories in the last 15 seasons with a blistering performance at Molineux, with the scoring opened by Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has now scored in all four of his opening day appearances since arriving at the Club and three minutes after the opener, top-flight debutant Reijnders fired in our second.

Haaland made it three on the hour mark, latching onto a superb Reijnders cutback, before fellow new-boy Rayan Cherki drilled in our fourth just eight minutes after coming off the bench.

Reijnders, who was awarded the Player of the Match award after his influential display, expressed his elation after the victory.

"Yeah it’s a really nice start of course, to start with a goal and assist, especially in the Premier League, it’s something you always dream about. It can be better.

"I’m always going on the pitch with a smile, I love playing football and enjoy every minute on the pitch. This is what I want to show to the fans. Starting like this is unbelievable.

"The first game of the season you don’t know what will happen or how the opponent will play. We did quite good, they put a bit of pressure on us but we stayed calm and it’s a good 4-0 win.

"It’s learning a lot of course. You get a new view on how to play football. For me it’s about quickly adapting. I’m trying to do my best all the time. Definitely, with the intensity in training and the team we have, you will definitely get better."

Although only one match has been played, the convincing victory sees City temporarily sit at the top of the league table on goal difference.

Reijnders was quizzed after the game regarding the ambition and targets for the players for this season.

"Yes, that is to win trophies," he declared.

"Last season City didn't win the league and that is our main goal. We all know what we want. We are really sharp to reach that goal."Big names were in this Club. I think it was more of a proud feeling to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"That’s what I want to show, that I am proud to play for this club, especially with a lot of love and fun."
