Red Devils make 'initial approach' for Viktor Gyökeres | OneFootball

Manchester United have opened talks with Sporting CP over the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres.

The Swedish striker has been in sensational form for his club this season. The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 games for his club in all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, helping the Lions to a league and cup double.

Since joining the club in the summer of 2023, Gyökeres has played 102 games, scoring 97 goals and assisting a further 27.

According to Sky Sports News, an 'initial approach' has been made by the Premier League side for the former Coventry City man.

Ruben Amorim has been keen to revamp his team's lacklustre attack with Matheus Cunha having already signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers while talks with Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford are ongoing.

Other reports have suggested that Rasmus Højlund could depart this summer but the club are keen to bring Gyökeres in regardless of whether the Dane stays.
