Celtic have made a habit of bringing back former players and managers in recent times. In the hot seat, we have seen the likes of Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers come back for second stints. On the other hand, on the pitch, Jota made his return to Parkhead in the summer. Also, Kieran Tierney has agreed a pre-contract already and will be returning at the end of the season, when his deal with Arsenal runs out.

Another former Celtic player who has been linked with a return to Parkhead in the past is Carl Starfelt. The Swede had been a regular starter at centre-back for a couple of years with the Hoops.

He did end up leaving in the summer of 2023 in order to join Celta Vigo in La Liga. To be fair to Starfelt, he has been successful in establishing himself as a regular starter for the Spanish club.

So, the Celtic return rumours are a bit confusing to be very honest. But as it turns out, there seems to have been interest on the part of the Scottish giants indeed, although a move did not materialise.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Celtic did have an interest in taking Starfelt back to Parkhead last year. But they were priced out of a move for their ex-player.

Well, it is not hard to see why Celtic would struggle to meet the transfer asking fee for a defender who is starting regularly for a La Liga club. They have signed quite a few players since his departure at centre-back.

Last summer, Celtic went out and signed Auston Trusty, who has done a decent job since arriving in Glasgow. It remains to be seen if he is a long-term starter for the club.
