Real Madrid yet to make any offer to key goalkeeping target – report | OneFootball

As Real Madrid gear up for a busy summer ahead, one of the key areas the club might look to reinforce is the goalkeeping department.

Thibaut Courtois is a surefire starter for the club, but Andriy Lunin’s future remains in doubt, which is why Real Madrid have been recently linked with a move for Joan Garcia.

Currently plying his trade for Espanyol, the young goalkeeper has impressed onlookers with his performances this season.

In fact, it was earlier reported that Real Madrid are even willing to pay as much as €20 million to block the signing of the young Spaniard.

No offers from Real Madrid yet

However, a recent report from COPE has offered an update on the future of Joan Garcia amid widespread speculation of a potential exit from Espanyol.

The report does mention that Garcia has received offers from a myriad of top clubs across Europe, ranging from England and Germany to Spain itself.

However, none of the offers have come from Real Madrid so far, which is odd considering that the club were so interested in his services not too long ago.

It could be a case that Los Blancos are biding their time before taking such a significant investment decision.

The Spanish giants have been quite prudent in the past, with regards to their market activity. Spending €20 milllion on Garcia, therefore, will be more of a calculated investment rather than an impulse buy.

That said, it will be interesting to see whether or not Joan Garcia is willing to wait for Real Madrid, considering the fact that he has received offers from elsewhere.

It must also be noted that Real Madrid can only offer Garcia a second-fiddle role to Courtois right now, which is something the goalkeeper may consider before taking the next step in his career.
