Real Madrid plan to sign a new centre-back in the summer transfer window this year having had their lack of options in the position exposed for the second season in a row.

Names such as Castello Lukeba, Aymeric Laporte, and Vitor Reis have been mentioned as possible targets for Los Blancos.

More recently, though, another exciting talent has emerged as a potential option for the reigning Spanish champions – Dean Huijsen of AFC Bournemouth.

Huijsen to cost at least £49 million

Now, according to reports from ESPN, Bournemouth are very much aware of the interest Huijsen is attracting from Real Madrid and other clubs.

While a sale in the ongoing January transfer window is pretty much out of the question, the Premier League club would consider a summer exit for a fee of around £49 million (€59 million).

It would represent a major profit for Bournemouth, who brought in Huijsen from Juventus last summer for a fee of around €15 million.

The 19-year-old prodigy has featured in 14 matches for the Cherries this season, even chipping in with two goals.

Born in the Netherlands, Huijsen moved to Spain at a very young age and came through the Malaga academy, before leaving for Juventus.

As such, the youngster currently plays for the Spanish Under-21 national team with six appearances already under his belt.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid are willing to splash such a sizeable sum on the 19-year-old after all they were reluctant to spend big on Leny Yoro last summer, who ended up joining Manchester United instead.
