With the season in its final phase, Real Madrid have their focus completely on the UEFA Champions League final coming up against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.

However, the Spanish capital club also need to address some other important matters like the future of the players whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

Nacho Fernandez has his heart set on an exit while reports earlier today suggested that Luka Modric, too, will be leaving, with a renewal unlikely.

Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez is set to stay put and sign a new one-year deal.

Toni Kroos, too, was reported to be agreeing a new contract and continuing at the Santiago Bernabeu. But it might not be so.

Kroos has doubts about renewal

Indeed, journalist Ramon Alvarez reports that Toni Kroos has some doubts about signing a renewal and continuing at Real Madrid for another season.

The German international has always made it clear that he intends to hang up his boots when he is at the top, which he currently is, enjoying a stellar season during which he has won the league title and could add another UCL crown to his cabinet.

Kroos has doubts about continuing as he does not want to spend the next season as a peripheral figure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With Kylian Mbappe all set to arrive, the veteran superstar feels that Real Madrid could return to a 4-3-3 formation, which could lead to him losing his spot in midfield.

As such, he is still not certain about his next move and is yet to make a final decision on his renewal despite previous reports suggesting otherwise.

Even though there are several world-class midfielders in the squad, losing Modric and Kroos in the same window could prove to be a devastating blow for Real Madrid.
