Vinicius Jr’s injury has left Carlo Ancelotti in a serious dilemma as to how to line up against Liverpool later tonight.

Playing at Anfield, the manager will require his best XI to put up a herculean effort to get past the English giants and finding the right dynamic will count for so much of the result.

Kylian Mbappe will slot into Vinicius’ position on the left and all signs point to Brahim Diaz joining him in attack. With the altered squad picture, the manager is thus likely to opt for a 4-4-2 system.

The big news

Luka Modric, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are all expected to start in midfield for the Merengues later tonight. With Federico Valverde playing at right-back, however, the big question was over the fourth place in midfield.

While Dani Ceballos and Arda Guler were the two players fighting for the starting position, El Chiringuito now reveals that it is the Turkish phenom who will start against Liverpool.

Both players had minutes against Leganes as they started at the weekend and dished out impressive displays, although to varying effect.

While Ceballos was a more solid option who brought stability and control, Guler showed a magic touch and an ability to break the lines with his creative vision.

His forward-oriented play and Real Madrid’s overall struggles with playmaking, thus, appear to be the attributes that have earned him a start at Anfield.

The past few months have not been easy for Guler and the youngster is still fighting for regular minutes. A statement performance at Anfield, needless to say, can go a long way in securing his place in the manager’s plans.
