Real Madrid pulled off yet another memorable UEFA Champions League victory last night as they eliminated Manchester City via penalties to qualify for the semi-finals.

However, it appears to have come at a serious cost for the Merengues as one of their most important players might now miss the upcoming match against arch-rivals Barcelona.

Vinicius Jr. a doubt for El Clasico

Indeed, according to a report from SPORT, Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. is now a doubt for Sunday’s La Liga encounter against Barcelona due to a potential injury.

The 23-year-old Brazilian international gave his everything for over 100 minutes at the Etihad Stadium but was unable to complete the game.

In the 101st minute, after being involved in a race with Kyle Walker, Vinicius could not carry on any longer and asked for a substitution due to muscle discomfort.

While it is believed that the issue is not serious, given that the Clasico is only a couple of days away, there is a doubt about whether he might be ready or not.

Vinicius will undergo tests later today to assess his condition, with Real Madrid hoping that it is nothing but some muscle fatigue or slight overload.

Vinicius’ absence will be a blow

If he does miss out, it will be a major blow for Real Madrid, given the record that Vinicius boasts against Barcelona.

In 16 games against the Catalans for Real Madrid, the 23-year-old forward has netted six goals and assisted three more. Only against Valencia (8) has he scored more than versus Barcelona.

As such, Real Madrid will be hoping that he is ready to face their bitter rivals come Sunday.
