Barcelona and Real Madrid will perhaps remain the two biggest clubs in world football for a long time and the game between them will be an evergreen clash of the titans.

El Clasico, over the years, has seen many fascinating battles between legends on both sides of the field.

This year, Hansi Flick has proven to have Carlo Ancelotti’s number as Barcelona humiliated Real Madrid on both the occasions that they faced off.

First, Barcelona put four goals past Los Blancos in the league meeting in October and established themselves as the superior of the two sides this season.

Their next meeting was in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, and Barcelona won by a 5-2 margin despite having gone down early and playing a significant chunk of the game with ten men.

Real Madrid star reflects on El Clasico

Speaking to the media (h/t FCBWorld) in a recent interview, Real Madrid star Rodrygo opened up on why El Clasico is always a special game.

“Matches against Barcelona are always special, and also difficult because we are the two best teams.”

He then reflected on the criticism players have to deal with when they lose the big clash and how it is only deserved given the expectation.

“When we beat them, you see the fans celebrating and jeering. And when we lose, we have to bear that too.”

While Barcelona may have beaten Real Madrid convincingly this season, there are many battles yet to come in the coming months.

After all, they are yet to play against each other in the league and both the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League could end with Clasico finals.
