Speculation surrounding the future of former Real Madrid academy talent Nico Paz has been rife in the last few months.
Now at Serie A side Como under Cesc Fabregas, the young Argentine midfielder has attracted considerable attention following a string of promising performances.
Yet despite all the chatter, Real Madrid have chosen not to activate their buy-back clause, at least for now.
Many believed Nico Paz would be recalled to the Spanish capital before the Club World Cup. However, he remains with Como, and the Italian club are reportedly keen on acquiring 100% of the midfielder’s rights.
But here’s the catch. According to MARCA, this scenario cannot happen without Real Madrid’s approval as Los Blancos retain a repurchase option on the Argentine until the summer of 2027.
Any possible transfer involving Nico Paz must be authorised by the Madrid hierarchy, who would be entitled to 50% of the fee if a sale were to go through. Essentially, nothing moves unless Valdebebas gives the green light.

This comes at a time when Tottenham have expressed interest in signing the midfielder. In fact, as per ESPN, Tottenham are interested and have submitted a €40 million bid, which has been turned down.
While the Serie A has demanded a starting bid of €60 million, it is to be noted that Real Madrid have plenty of options to buy him back which would effectively end his chances of moving to the Premier League.
Inside the club, Real Madrid’s coaching staff continue to view Nico Paz as a player with first-team potential.
They are keeping a close eye on his development in Italy and believe another season at Como will benefit his progression.
While rumours of a sale refuse to die down, the message from the capital is clear: Real Madrid are not ready to let go of their emerging gem.
As things stand, all roads lead back to Valdebebas. Como may be Serie A’s latest fashionable destination, but when it comes to Nico Paz, Real Madrid are still firmly in control of the narrative.
Until 2027, any movement involving the midfielder will go through Madrid and at this stage, they are in no rush to cash in.
