Real Madrid star ‘surprised’ the club haven’t announced his contract renewal | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been left surprised by the club’s failure to make official his contract renewal.

That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Ferland Mendy as the player in question.

Left-back Mendy has of course seen his future thrown into doubt this summer, owing to a combination of ongoing fitness woes, a dip in performance, and the arrival of Álvaro Carreras at Real Madrid.

If the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, though, then the Frenchman has little intention of departing.

As per a report from The Athletic:

‘French left-back Ferland Mendy intends to stay at Madrid and compete with Carreras and Fran Garcia.’

This comes, as alluded to above, despite Mendy being left to wonder why exactly his new Blancos contract, finalised last year, is yet to be announced by those in a position of power at the Santiago Bernabéu.
