Real Madrid star ready to request change of position for next season during meeting with Xabi Alonso

A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to ask new head coach Xabi Alonso for the opportunity to prove himself in a different position next season.
That’s according to Spanish football insider Javier Rodríguez Pascual, who points towards Rodrygo as the player in question.
Wide-man Rodrygo has of course seen his future in Spain’s capital thrown firmly up in the air over recent week.
Amid mounting interest in his services by way of the Premier League, the Brazilian international is understood to be taking into consideration a new challenge.
An upcoming meeting with Xabi Alonso will prove key when it comes to Rodrygo’s plans beyond the summer, with the 24-year-old understandably keen to gain a full understanding of the vision laid out by Real’s new headmaster.
And during as much, it has this week been revealed, Rodrygo will make clear his hopes of being afforded a consistent chance to prove himself in a favoured role in Los Blancos’ frontline.
As per the aforementioned Javier Rodríguez Pascual, speaking during an interview with ‘HandofArsenal’ on ‘X’:
‘Rodrygo is set to have a meeting with Xabi Alonso regarding his future role at Real Madrid. This meeting is yet to take place and we can exclusively reveal that Rodrygo will try to emphasise his will to play a left sided role. The Brazilian feels this is where he can express himself best and maximise his creative potential positionally.’
For reference, the South American was chiefly utilised on the right wing by Carlo Ancelotti this past season.
