While Barça have unearthed talents such as Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi in recent years, Real Madrid are trailing when it comes to nurturing domestic talents.

To make things worse, Barcelona, in recent times, have also picked up a couple of youth talents, who were previously a part of the Real Madrid academy.

Real Madrid launch counterattack

Real Madrid, however, are readying a strong answer to Barcelona’s recent endeavours in the Spanish youth market.

According to Rodra P, the Spanish giants are all set to bring in Joel Perez, a Catalan talent who currently plies his trade for Espanyol.

Born in 2008, Perez is regarded highly due to his speed and ability to control the ball. The forward, therefore, could prove to be a major coup, as far as Real Madrid’s youth team is concerned.

This is a direct response to Barcelona’s acquisition of talents such as Byron Mendoza and Marcos Parriego, both of who stemmed from the Real Madrid youth academy.

Real Madrid’s plans with Joel Perez

Joel Perez is all set to arrive in the Spanish capital in the coming summer. However, it is unclear where exactly the youngster will play, in Real Madrid’s youth footballing pyramid.

Some Madrid Juvenil C players have played for Real Madrid’s Juvenil A side this season, which means it is not entirely ruled out that Perez could be left under the jurisdiction of Arbeloa next season.

Although Perez is not exactly from the Barcelona youth academy, he is a Catalan native nonetheless and given his immense potential, he could indeed prove to be a smart signing for Los Blancos.
