A lot has been said about the rosy aspect of the upcoming summer transfer window for Real Madrid.

Having all but completed the signing of Kylian Mbappe from PSG, Los Blancos are set to announce the transfer of the century in the coming weeks. The Frenchman, however, is only one of the several names targeted by the Merengues.

Apart from the sweet news scheduled for next month, however, is an equal share of uncertain futures that the administration must decide on. Some players, needless to say, will be forced to leave.

Painful departures

As confirmed in a recent report by Alfredo Matilla (h/t Madrid Xtra), Los Blancos are set to announce some painful departures in the coming months.

For starters, club captain Nacho Fernandez is almost certainly leaving the club of his dreams in the summer. Despite not being a regular starter, the Spaniard is a loved presence in the dressing room and amongst the fanbase.

Other players whose future is in doubt include Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia, both of whom have not enjoyed the prominence they would have liked to this season. A departure for both players, thus, is not off the cards.

The two big questions

Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are the biggest names in Madrid on the verge of seeing their contract out. With less than a month left, both players stare at an uncertain future in the Spanish capital.

Word has it that the German veteran will continue for at least one more season, and an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

The big uncertainty, however, is around Luka Modric. Some reports state that the Croatian superstar is set to leave this summer in what will truly be a painful departure, while others maintain that he will be offered a one-year renewal.
