Not only that, but they are set to do so by way of the third tier of English football.

As per a report from The Athletic:

‘Stockport’s Andy Mangan is set to join Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff at Real Madrid.’

Mangan, for his part, is the current assistant manager at League One outfit Stockport County, whom he only joined this past summer.

The 38-year-old has been credited with playing a key role in the club’s charge to the top of the League One table over the early weeks of the term.

But even he could scarcely have imagined the opportunity set to be opened up as a result…

Amid ongoing efforts on the part of Carlo Ancelotti and co. to rejuvenate their team by way of fresh faces and ideas, Mangan’s name was recently pushed by Ancelotti’s son and assistant, Davide.

He and Mangan are understood to boast a close friendship, with the former striker, in turn, having quickly emerged as the no.1 candidate to fill the role of EFL-experienced addition to the coaching staff at Real Madrid.

The Athletic conclude:

‘He is currently waiting for his work permit and no date has been set for their incorporation, but should everything go according to plan, the 38-year-old will move to the Santiago Bernabeu.’
