La Liga giants Real Madrid forwarded a message of congratulations to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, on the back of the latter’s latest triumph on the continent.
PSG were of course back in action on Wednesday night, locking horns with Tottenham Hotspur in the annual UEFA Super Cup.
With a full 85 minutes on the clock, Luis Enrique’s troops appeared headed for defeat, trailing by two goals to nil.
The Champions League holders, however, conjured up a last-gasp comeback, to send proceedings to a penalty shootout.
And when all was said and done, it was PSG who held their nerve, to add another piece of silverware to the club’s bulging trophy cabinet.
Messages of congratulations, in turn, have since come pouring in for the Ligue 1 heavyweights from across the world of football.
And as alluded to above, one such message was forthcoming by way of La Liga.
In a post across their official social media platforms in the aftermath of the Stadio Friuli showcase, the aforementioned Real Madrid wrote:
‘Congratulations to PSG and their fans for their deserved UEFA Super Cup title.’
