Real Madrid have always had a liking for the big names who can immediately slot into their department after arriving at the club.

When the administration identified the pivot position as an area requiring reinforcement in recent months, the hunt proceeded in a similar direction.

Rodri and Martin Zubimendi, two of the finest players in the position globally, were both linked with moves to Real Madrid. Alongside them, however, a young talent from Germany also squeezed into the aforementioned list.

The player in question is Angelo Stiller, Stuttgart’s young defensive midfielder who impressed in the Bundesliga last season and was seen to be one touted for a big move away.

Option ruled out

As relayed in a recent report by Fichajes, Florentino Perez and Real Madrid have now definitively ruled out the German star as an option for this summer. There is now no way he will end up at the club in the current window.

Despite being admired by Xabi Alonso, Los Blancos have decided against his recruitment for a couple of reasons including his fitness and the economic non-viability of the deal.

For starters, Stuttgart reportedly demanded over €45 million for the player, a fee the Spanish giants saw to be excessive for a player whom the management likes but do not see as an absolute necessity.

The second reason behind his backtracking in his pursuit is related to the ankle ligament injury that he suffered recently.

Stiller is ruled out for several weeks through the same, and while he will return soon, he is in no position to clear medicals and complete a move.

As it stands, the door for Stiller is thus closed but there continues to be a chance that he may join in future transfer windows. His fitness, quality and progression will dictate the possibility of the same.
