Real Madrid are open to selling left-back Fran Garcia, and a move to Serie A giants AC Milan could be on the cards this summer.

Diario AS claims that Los Merengeues have decided to sell Garcia or Ferland Mendy following the arrival of Alvaro Carreras from Benfica in a €50 million deal.

Manager Xabi Alonso views Carreras as the primary left-back option, meaning that Garcia would have to settle for reduced roles this season.

Milan have identified Garcia as one of their top targets to replace Theo Hernandez, who has joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in a €35m deal.

The 25-year-old returned to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2023 but has failed to nail down a regular role for the Spanish giants.

However, his importance grew last season due to Mendy’s injury. He made 48 appearances in all competitions, although Madrid failed to lift a major trophy.

The Spanish defender had an excellent campaign at the Club World Cup before Madrid suffered a humiliating defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.

Los Blancos believe Garcia’s stock has grown after his impressive Club World Cup run. They value him at more than €30m.

Milan share an excellent relationship with Madrid following the previous transfer dealings for Hernandez and Brahim Diaz.

The Rossoneri were prioritising a move for Archie Brown this summer, but the English left-back joined Fenerbahce.

Milan have completed the signings of midfielders Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric in this transfer window.
