Dani Ceballos’ situation has seen a surprising turn of events in recent days after the player went from almost certainly leaving the club to being stranded with no destination.
Olympique Marseille were close to completing the player’s transfer with an agreement in place with Ceballos and Real Madrid. The official announcement, in fact, was seen to be just around the corner when the player himself backed out.
Indeed, Ceballos wanted to push for a move to Real Betis in the nth moment and hoped his childhood club would come calling. Unfortunately, however, they turned their back on him and the player was left with no destination.
As relayed by MARCA in a recent report, the Dani Ceballos situation is now completely closed and there will be no further surprises. He is expected to stay at Real Madrid and will not be part of any more transfer talks.

The player rejected Marseille’s interest for a plethora of reasons – starting from his desire to eventually return to Real Betis to how he saw a move to the Ligue 1 as a step backwards in his career.
Given that Real Betis had not made any bid for the player before his move to France collapsed, it is thus completely plausible that the midfielder knew of the risk of being stuck at Real Madrid should his boyhood club not turn up.
Thus, he may well be open to fighting for a spot at the Spanish capital for one more season, especially with a new manager in charge. He may not be high up the pecking order but is confident in his quality to fight back up.
Last season, Ceballos made 23 appearances for Los Blancos in La Liga and had 15 starts in that time. Given his ability to control the tempo of games, he could well serve as a valuable backup to the young core.
