Real Madrid have had a rough time in recent weeks. With defeats in both El Clásico against Barcelona and AC Milan in the Champions League at home, things aren’t looking good for the Spanish giants right now.
Their issues were further compounded a few weeks ago with the injury suffered by veteran right-back Dani Carvajal, but Real Madrid currently have their eyes out for a replacement.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently touted as Real Madrid’s top choice for the role, and Marca is reporting that they are ramping up their interest in the 26-year-old.
If Real Madrid are willing to wait for Alexander-Arnold, they will have to put up with a makeshift right-back for the rest of this season, as Carvajal will be out, leaving the role down to Lucas Vázquez and Eder Militão.
However, the brass at Real Madrid do not see Militão as a viable option, while youth player Jesús Fortea isn’t considered to be at a suitable level to make the jump.
This developing situation will be well worth keeping an eye on in the months to come, to see whether Real Madrid will get their man or if the right-back will stay put at his boyhood club.
