Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold have so far been the two big defensive purchases for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window.

Although the Alexander-Arnold deal has yet to be announced, there is no cause for concern as Real Madrid are simply waiting to receive the final confirmation as to whether or not the defender will be eligible to join early.

In order to do that, Real Madrid must reach an agreement with Liverpool, who still own the player until the end of June, whereas the FIFA Club World Cup starts in the middle of June.

To that end, a recent report from Ramon Alvarez has offered an update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alexander-Arnold.

The report confirms that Real Madrid have an agreement in place with Liverpool regarding the early arrival of the Englishman.

As per the deal, Los Blancos will cover Alexander-Arnold’s salary in June and will, therefore, forgo some tax money.

In addition, there will be a compensation in place for Liverpool for releasing the player early so that he can play in the FIFA Club World Cup for Real Madrid.

The journalist confirms that the right-back will indeed represent Real Madrid in the Club World Cup this summer.

This could serve as a massive boost for the Spanish giants, who would want to get the deal done and dusted as soon as possible.

This is relevant even more so because new coach Xabi Alonso is expected to have only five first-team players available when he kickstarts the team’s training on June 9. Alexander-Arnold’s early arrival, therefore, could be a big boon.
