According to Sergio Quirante, Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler continues to work on his recovery and the team does not have any specific date of return for the young talent.

It has been suggested that Real Madrid hope to hand Guler his debut against Villarreal on December 17, but that does not appear to be the case.

“Yesterday, [Carlo] Ancelotti responded to Guler saying that next week he will perform high-intensity exercises and that he is very close to being at her best.

“This time the Turkish player is working without a specific return date. Freed from the pressure that surrounded him in his previous recovery periods,” wrote Quirante.

A troubled start to a new life

Guler has been plagued with injuries ever since joining Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in the summer so much so that he is yet to make his debut with the team.

The young Turk sustained a meniscus injury during the preseason in the United States, leading to surgical intervention. Subsequently, as he was in the early stages of recovery, he faced a significant muscle injury.

Despite rejoining the squad upon recovery, he remained on the sidelines, as Ancelotti deemed him not yet physically prepared. Another setback occurred in mid-November, with a muscle injury attributing to a pause.

Both Güler and Real Madrid are eager for this to be the last setback, aiming for a full recovery before making a return to the field.

Ancelotti hopeful of his return

As of today, Guler’s recovery is going pretty well and while there is no official return date yet, there is a feeling that he might be able to play a few minutes against Villarreal on December 17th.

However, while speaking to the press, Ancelotti delivered a different statement altogether, saying that he is not sure whether the young midfielder will be able to play this year.

“He’s almost back. He will train harder next week. I don’t know if he will be ready for the last game of the year or in 2024.” said Ancelotti.

“[Aurelien] Tchouameni and Guler are close to returning with the team. Vinicius and Camavinga in 2024,” he added.

For now, nothing related to Guler is certain and this is mostly because Real Madrid approaching his recovery very cautiously.

The former Fenerbahce starlet will first resume normal training and it is only after this that he will be incorporated in the matchday squads.
