In recent seasons, Real Madrid have not shied away from roping in young talents from the youth academy of their neighbours, Atletico Madrid.

Having broken the non-aggression pact between the two clubs for the signing of Jesus Fortea, Los Blancos have since signed several more youngsters from their bitter rivals.

Most recently, Real Madrid brought in Gabriel Suarez Castrelo this summer after his contract with Atletico expired on June 30.

No success in pursuit of Luis Navarro

However, according to AS, Real Madrid have failed in their attempt to lure another talented starlet, Luis ‘Curro’ Navarro, away from Atletico Madrid.

The Merengues are understood to be one among several top Spanish clubs to have made offers to sign the young attacking midfielder, who turned 16 years old today.

Curro has been with the Atletico Madrid academy since 2018 and is held in very high regard within the club.

A versatile operator, the youngster can play as a winger, an attacking midfielder, and an interior as well. Technically gifted, the 16-year-old has known become for his vision, attacking quality, and set-piece delivery.

All these attributes made him an attractive prospect for Real Madrid as well as their bitter rivals Barcelona, who also wanted to sign the teenage wonderkid.

However, Curro has rejected all the proposals and has committed to signing his first professional contract with Los Rojiblancos, which will run until 2028.

As mentioned earlier, the youngster is celebrating his 16th birthday today, making him eligible to sign his first professional contract with Atleti, which he intends to do next week.

Despite the interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, and other clubs, Curro and his family have always focused on continuing at Atletico and will continue with the Colchoneros.
