En route an excellent 99-point campaign in La Liga and potentially their 15th Champions League title, Real Madrid have a squad filled to the brim with unbelievable talent and players who are unanimously considered the best in their positions.
Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr are already in Ballon d’Or conversations, while Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde have dominated the midfield like few others across Europe.
Daniel Carvajal has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence season himself, while Andriy Lunin has been phenomenal in the absence of Thibaut Courtois all season.
Amidst all of these brilliant performers, Ferland Mendy’s second-half of the campaign has gone under the radar. The Frenchman has bounced back from injuries and established himself as an undisputed starter for the team.
In fact, his performances have seen such a huge uptick that the option of signing Alphonso Davies has practically been ruled out by Madrid, although his renewal at Bayern Munich still seems complicated.
He also has complete backing of Carlo Ancelotti, who has, on multiple occasions called him the best ‘defensive’ left-back in the world.
If that was not enough, on the back of this, there is more good news on the horizon for Mendy.
According to a report by FranceInfo (h/t MadridXtra), Ferland Mendy is definitely making France’s final list for the 2024 European Championship in Germany this year.
He will be among three Madrid players that will be called up for the French NT, alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Only Tchouameni has a definitive starting spot in this list, though, with Camavinga expected to play second fiddle to Adrien Rabiot, while Mendy fights for his place against Theo Hernandez.
Should he earn the call, it would be Mendy’s first time representing France since September 2022.

Madrid will likely also send Joselu, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Antonio Rudiger, Daniel Carvajal, David Alaba, and Andriy Lunin for the tournament unless something drastic changes by the start of June.
