Real Madrid are gearing up for a busy summer ahead, with the club likely to bring in Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

But apart from Mbappe, Real Madrid are expected to strengthen a few other areas, including the left-back position.

Alphonso Davies has emerged as one of the targets for Los Blancos. However, the Canadian’s pursuit is getting more difficult with each passing day, which has led to Real Madrid considering alternatives.

A former player in contention

According to The Daily Briefing, Real Madrid have not entirely ruled out the option of bringing back Miguel Gutierrez.

A product of La Fabrica, Gutierrez left Real Madrid for Girona in the summer of 2022, for a fee of just €4 million.

Los Blancos were able to secure a 50% sell-on fee in his Girona contract, along with an affordable buyback option of €8 million. That means the club can bring him back effortlessly this summer.

What about Davies and the rest?

The report, though, does add that Miguel Gutierrez’s fate at Real Madrid could depend on the future of other stars in the team.

Indeed, the Spanish giants must decide on what they want from the existing options such as Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

Both players have been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu, even though Mendy has been a consistent performer lately and was included in France’s Euro 2024 squad.

Not to mention, Real Madrid are still interested in the services of Davies. One would expect Los Blancos to give up on Gutierrez if they are able to sign the Canadian international this summer.

In any case, Real Madrid stand to gain from Gutierrez’s transfer this summer, thanks to the 50% sell-on fee clause. The player has no shortage of suitors either, with several Premier League clubs interested in his services.
