En route to Los Blancos booking their spot in the finale of the Champions League courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich, Bellingham featured from the off in Spain’s capital.

The 20-year-old, however, again looked short of his brilliant best, an explanation for which was forthcoming ahead of kick-off.

As revealed by COPE, and subsequently confirmed by a series of other outlets, Bellingham departed the Real Madrid camp mere hours before kick-off against Bayern.

This came with a view to receiving a series of injections, to reduce the pain of an ongoing knee problem.

With this having marked just the latest in what have come as a series of fitness issues for Bellingham of late, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his midfield goalscorer’s wellbeing was today put to boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Real’s headmaster, however, was keen to play concerns down, adamant that though he will rotate out of his XI in the buildup to the Champions League final, Bellingham is ‘fine’.

“Jude Bellingham is fine,” Ancelotti began. “He will rotate in the next games just like all the other players.”
