In a recent report, The Daily Mail mentioned that Real Madrid are in the mix to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. It has been stated that Los Blancos would have to compete with Atletico Madrid in the race to land the English talent this summer.

Mainoo’s Recent Season In English Football

Mainoo struggled to be consistent for Man United in the previous campaign but managed to put in a few impressive displays at the heart of Ruben Amorim’s midfield. The English midfielder made 37 appearances for the Mancunian outfit last season, scoring two goals and securing one assist in all competitions.

The 20-year-old is currently among the best young players in English football. Thus, it is no surprise that Real Madrid are showing interest in recruiting him this summer.

Mainoo is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2027, which could make it tough for Los Blancos to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

What Will Mainoo Bring To Real Madrid?

Mainoo loves a tackle and can make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He is a technically gifted midfielder who has got the eye to play a killer pass in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball as well.

The English sensation can strike the ball purely and with power from long range. He is primarily a holding midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or as a box-to-box midfielder if required. However, Mainoo needs to find a way to be more consistent with his performances at the centre of the park. Furthermore, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to get him on board this summer.

Mainoo would bring more quality and depth to Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield in the long run. He is good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the Madrid club’s match-day squad this season.
