As Real Madrid continued their preparations for Sunday’s La Liga encounter against Deportivo Alaves this week, they have received a boost on the fitness front.
Key midfielder Dani Ceballos, who has been out injured since late February, has resumed training with the group in the last couple of days.
The Spanish international, who was in fine nick before suffering an injury against Real Sociedad in February, is targeting a return for next week’s game against Arsenal.
However, it is not entirely ruled out that he is included in the squad for Sunday’s La Liga clash vs Alaves.
Indeed, according to MARCA, Ceballos once again completed Friday’s training session with the squad.
The Real Madrid midfielder will now undergo a final fitness test on Saturday to determine whether he is fit enough to travel to Vitoria for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Alaves, or if he will be held back and reserved for Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Arsenal.

What is clear is that Ceballos is in the final stage of recovery. Friday marked exactly five weeks since the start of his rehabilitation. Initial estimates projected a return in seven to eight weeks, but things have progressed more swiftly than expected.
Before the injury, Ceballos had become a vital component in Real Madrid’s midfield setup, linking the defence with the club’s four-pronged attack of Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Kylian Mbappe.
Though the Spaniard began the season in a more secondary role, his influence was growing rapidly in the weeks leading up to his setback. His absence was a blow to Carlo Ancelotti, who had come to rely on the Andalusian as a key part of his tactical framework.
As such, his imminent return will be seen as a big boost by the Italian tactician. Ceballos will now undergo tests tomorrow to assess whether he can make his comeback during Real Madrid’s away game vs. Alaves or if he has to wait until the Arsenal game.
