It was reported last week that RB Leipzig had reached a verbal agreement to sign Tidiam Gomis, and now the Bundesliga side are deciding whether or not to bring the Frenchman to Saxony in January.
Gomis’ (18) contract at Caen expires in the summer but, according to Philipp Hinze, Leipzig are now exploring the possibility of signing the Frenchman before this week’s deadline. Should that be the case, the Ligue 2 side can expect to receive between €2m and €4m for the French youth international.
It’s already reported that Gomis, who has two goals and two assists in 20 league games for Caen this season, will sign a long-term contract at Leipzig, becoming their latest acquisition from the French market.
RB Leipzig have a history of recruiting from France with the signings of Loïs Openda (Lens), Castello Lukeba (Lyon), El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Xavi Simons (PSG) in the 2023/24 season and before that, Abdou Diallo (PSG, 2022/23) and Mohamed Simakan (Strasbourg, 2021/22). Further noticeable names include Ibrahima Konaté and Christopher Nkunku, who now play for Liverpool and Chelsea.
