Raskin To Return? | Predicted 4-3-3 Rangers Lineup To Face Dundee

Despite a disappointing draw with Motherwell, Rangers continued their impressive run in Europe with an emphatic win against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday night. Russell Martin made a few changes to his starting XI from last weekend’s setback, and the Gers boss would demand another intense performance from his men on Saturday evening while clashing heads with Dundee at Ibrox.

Although the Light Blues remain firm favourites to grab their first league win of the 2025-26 season, the Dee made it difficult for them over the past two meetings, having secured a 1-1 draw, followed by an injury-time defeat in March. However, Rangers maintained their supremacy against the Dark Blues in their own backyard, and it will be a colossal task for Steven Pressley’s side, who already suffered an opening gameweek defeat versus Hibernian.

Defence

Jack Butland has reclaimed his ‘number 1′ status, and irrespective of Rangers’ hunt for another custodian, the veteran Englishman should keep his place between the sticks in all competitions.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – AUGUST 05: Cyriel Dessers of Rangers celebrates scoring his team’s second goal during the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round First Leg match between Rangers and Viktoria Plzen at Ibrox Stadium on August 05, 2025 in Glasgow, Scotland. Nasser Djiga and John Souttar are being preferred as the central defensive pairing, but Martin shuffled his fullbacks against the Czech outfit. Skipper James Tavernier was dropped in favour of Max Aarons, as the latter was deployed from the right, featuring as a makeshift left-back in their first few fixtures. Jefte has been reintegrated into the first team, and the gaffer should not alter his ‘back four’ again, particularly after a clean sheet this midweek.

Midfield

Joe Rothwell has cemented the ‘number six’ spot since joining them on a Bosman earlier this summer. Lyall Cameron added flair and creative spark as he was handed a start against Viktorka ahead of Nicolas Raskin. But the Belgian playmaker could be restored in the box-to-box role, with the ex-Dundee ace might get introduced as a substitute. Mohamed Diomande must retain his place, considering his high work ethic and ball-carrying traits.

Attack

Cyriel Dessers is linked with a summer exit. Yet the veteran Nigerian demonstrated his professionalism and commitment once again when he both scored and assisted in the first leg of their Champions League third-round encounter. He should get the nod over Danilo for the ‘number 9’ slot, and the wide attacking roles must be occupied by two new signings, Djeidi Gassama and Oliver Antman.

Gassama has been a revelation down the left with four goals in four appearances. Also, Antman made an immediate impact by assisting the former Sheffield Wednesday winger for his second of the European night. Mikey Moore could make his debut from the bench, but they continue to miss out on Hamza Igamane and Thelo Aasgaard with their respective injury problems.
