Manchester United have dropped points for the second consecutive match after being held to a draw in their Europa League opener tonight.

It comes just four days after the Reds endured a dreary stalemate at Selhurst Park to tally their first draw of the Premier League campaign, and they have now failed to overturn opposition who were there for the taking on home soil.

On paper, United were the major favourites to reign victorious this evening, not least because they had the Old Trafford faithful rallying them on from the first blow of the whistle. Yet, another substandard showing will now be added to the list after only seven matches played.

You’d struggle to cherry-pick any player who covered themselves in glory across the 90 minutes, with Erik ten Hag’s chosen substitutes also unable to make a lasting impact on the scoreline.

United vs Twente player ratings

Nonetheless, here’s our ratings.

Andre Onana – 5

Reliable when called upon for most, but could’ve done better for the equalising goal.

Noussair Mazraoui – 7

Is proving to be one of the most valuable signings made under Ten Hag and has transitioned to the side seamlessly.

Lisandro Martinez – 5

Picked up a relatively needless booking – otherwise reliable.

Harry Maguire – 6

Deserving of a recall to the starting XI.

Manuel Ugarte – 6

Completed four out of his four tackles attempted in the first half but is seemingly still getting to grips with Ten Hag’s system.

Christian Eriksen – 4

Netted a scintillating finish to open the scoring but saw his heroics rendered in vain when committing a costly error for Twente’s goal.

Bruno Fernandes – 4

Far from his best this season – and he’ll be one of the first to admit that.

Amad Diallo – 7

Growing in confidence with each game.

Marcus Rashford – 8

A standout performer throughout his 79 minutes.

Joshua Zirkzee – 7

Operates in a different manner than most centre-forwards, which does tend to bode well on the attack.
