Claudio Ranieri weighed in on Leandro Paredes’ contractual situation with the club.

In the aftermath of Roma’s win over Lecce, Ranieri spoke highly of Paredes, calling him a ‘champion’ following yet another positive performance in the midfield.

“He’s a champion,” said Ranieri. “Will he stay? That depends if he wants to.”

“His contract runs out next year and it will also depend on the new coach,” Ranieri said, referring to the new manager Roma are planning to hire at the end of the season.

“If it was up to me, if I was the long-term coach, I’d keep him,” he added, then jokingly said, “Can you imagine if I turned out to be the new coach?”
