Rangers’ stance on Hamza Igamane is becoming clearer by the day after Ligue 1 side Lille failed to push through their proposed transfer for the Moroccan forward. While the French side were very keen on securing the Ibrox attacker this summer they refused to meet the asking price and are now out of the race for his signature. This leaves the door wide open for Premier League interest and a strong Italian approach from Serie A.
Hamza Igamane Rangers transfer interest from Lille had looked concrete and advanced only a matter of weeks ago but the French giants have backed off after being told Rangers’ stance on Hamza Igamane, that the club would not accept any offer in the region of £15M. With Rangers looking to secure closer to £20M for the striker the Ibrox side are in no mood to sell short. They remain aware of growing interest from Everton while Udinese have joined the chase with serious eyes on a deal.
While the Moroccan only arrived this summer the nature of modern football means clubs like Rangers are willing to sell if the price is right. The club’s model demands high return on talent and should Everton or Udinese match the price being asked there is no reason to think Rangers would not entertain an exit. Hamza Igamane Rangers future could be decided in the coming days as both new suitors monitor the situation with keen interest.
It is not the first time Rangers have played hardball over player sales and fans may remember similar recent sagas with Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos. While some criticism has emerged over high valuations there is a strong argument that a club of Rangers’ size and ambition should demand nothing less. The player in question has impressed in training and early bounce matches and his value is seen as only increasing as he settles into the Scottish game.
Everton’s position on Rangers’ stance on Hamza Igamane, is particularly interesting with the Merseyside club looking to rebuild their attack and aware of the relatively modest price tag by English standards. Udinese meanwhile are no strangers to smart business in the European market and view Igamane as a perfect investment both now and for the future. Rangers fans will not want to lose their exciting new arrival so soon but the club’s hand may be forced if one of these sides meets the asking price outright.
