Rangers seek to replace Oscar Cortes with ex-£15M winger | OneFootball

The same journalist, Nico Shira, who broke the Domagoj Bradaric story, now reports Rangers are making enquiries with Fiorentina regarding 26-year-old winger Josip Brekalo who is reportedly set to leave Florence.

The former £15M winger (Rated around £3M today) fell down the pecking order with the Viola and ended up on loan at Hadjuk Split where he had a good season in fairness.

Now Rangers are interested in his signature with absolutely no fit left winger currently available on the payroll in Govan; this would be a replacement for Oscar Cortes whose injury has him out for an indeterminate period.

It is believed if these deals can be pushed through Rangers can relieve a tonne of the issues on that side of the pitch, and both players are definitely of the quality needed.

Brekalo has 122 Bundesliga appearances (31 goals and assists), 50 Serie A, and 9 in the Europa League.

He doesn’t have any Champions League but he’s a pedigree. His contract in Florence expires in two years – Rangers would looking for a cut-price deal or a loan.

But that also depends on sales and whether a deal is agreeable for all parties.
