Liverpool have announced the news that four players will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Reds this morning.

It has been reported that Emma Koivisto, Mel Lawley, Miri Taylor and Shanice van de Sanden are all moving on.

Finnish full-back Koivisto leaves Prenton Park having made 50 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions in which she has scored four goals. She has been a regular in the side over the last two seasons.

Winger Lawley is one of Liverpool’s longest-serving players. She has represented the club both in the Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship. She was a promotion-winner with The Reds in 2021/2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Midfielder Taylor joined Liverpool in the January 2023 window. She has made 15 appearances for the Merseyside club but has struggled for starts and spent the second half of this season on-loan at Aston Villa.

Forward Van de Sanden announced her Liverpool departure earlier this morning. The Dutch international has enjoyed two spells with The Reds. She has made 29 appearances for the club since returning in summer 2022.

After the quartet’s exits were confirmed, Liverpool boss Matt Beard said “The decisions are always football-based decisions [but] there is a lot of emotion attached to it because they’re great people.

“It’s probably the toughest part of the game, but it is part and parcel of the sport and the industry. As I said, they are always tough decisions but these decisions are made with them as people in mind, as well as what we’re planning to do with the squad going forward.

“They have been fantastic servants, each and every one of them, and they will definitely be missed by myself, the staff and the group.”

Liverpool end the 2023/2024 campaign with a fixture against Leicester City at The King Power Stadium tomorrow.
