The Blades defender has now been given the go-ahead to make a temporary switch to West London.
Sheffield United defender Rhys Norrington-Davies is set to finalise his loan move to Queens Park Rangers after the deal has been given the green light.
A fresh update on this recent transfer saga has been revealed by Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider via X, who states that the Welsh international is currently in London ahead of the completion of his temporary move to the Loftus Road side from their Championship rivals.
Rangers have made several smart additions to their squad in what is the maiden transfer window of Julien Stephan's reign, and the Frenchman will hope to marry this combination with a respectable points return in the coming weeks, after his new chargers have taken just one point from the first six available against Preston North End and Watford.
Meanwhile, the deal will also represent yet another temporary move away from Bramall Lane for Norrington-Davies, who has been a part of the Steel City club since the summer of 2017 when he joined the club's academy as an 18-year-old.
The Hoops have been looking to acquire the services of the Riyadh-born man for the past week or so, with it initially being claimed by West London Sport on August 11th that a move down the M1 for Norrington-Davies hinged on Ruben Selles' ability to recruit a defender to his own ranks.
It was reported earlier this week that the Blades man remained firmly on Stephan's transfer radar heading into the final week of the summer window, although United's plans had changed, with the South Yorkshire outfit looking to add further bodies to their defensive department, which has shipped seven goals across three games in all competitions.
Norrington-Davies, who has made 66 appearances for the Blades since breaking into the first-team picture, was selected in Selles' first Championship lineup in charge in the shock 4-1 home defeat to Bristol City at Bramall Lane.
However, O'Rourke has now revealed that he's been given the go-ahead to finalise his fifth loan switch since 2018 after the R's divisional counterparts confirmed the signings of Ben Godfrey on loan from Serie A outfit, Atalanta, and the capture of Swedish defender, Nils Zätterström, on a four-year contract from Malmö FF respectively.
The 13-time Wales international is now in the capital finalising the agreement with QPR, who will look to utilise his prior experience of 90 Championship appearances for United and in loan spells with Luton Town and Stoke City, bringing an end to Rangers' search for an experienced left-back following Morgan Fox's departure to Wigan Athletic at the beginning of the month.
Despite struggling on the opening day for his parent club against the Robins in a home thrashing in a slightly unnatural position, this deal benefits all parties involved, and none more so than Norrington-Davies himself.
Given the calibre of the two fresh incomings in S2, it would only push the defender back down the pecking order, and after making just 14 league appearances - only two of which were starts - last season, at 26 years of age, he is at the age where gametime week in, week out is a necessity.
Once again, this is another shrewd deal for the Hoops in their bid to push further up the table towards the top six under the former Rennes boss, and if the loan move goes to plan, Norrington-Davies could firmly put himself in the shop window for a permanent Bramall Lane departure, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2027.
