QPR have a busy summer ahead. But will be wary of securing the futures of their first-team regulars before bringing in reinforcements.

After the tension of last season, QPR have had a quiet start to the transfer window as Marti Cifuentes sets out his plans for next season.

Cifuentes guided the R's to safety last season after arriving at the club in October 2023, and he was widely heralded for his work in turning around their fortunes.

His future has been the topic of discussion, with Sunderland and Burnley among those said to be interested in the Spaniard but it seems he will lead the R's into 2024/25.

The West Londoners have yet to make a signing this summer but have a big summer ahead if they are to build on last season's momentum.

Cifuentes has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the dugout at QPR.

The 41-year-old arrived at QPR in October with the club in freefall and seemingly destined for the drop.

But having steered them to safety with 13 wins from his first 33 games, he has caught the attention of several Championship clubs.

Burnley and Sunderland have been touted with interest in Cifuentes as they look for a new manager ahead of next season.

Cifuentes, though, has ruled out the idea of leaving QPR this summer, telling Sky Sports he is "very excited for the future" at Loftus Road.

The Spaniard staying at the club is as important as any new signing, with QPR playing with style and purpose under his stewardship.

It promises to be an exciting summer ahead with Cifuentes at the helm.

Chris Willock and Asmir Begovic deadline approaching

Cifuentes has built his success at QPR around a core group of players, of which Asmir Begovic and Chris Willock are a part, and the fact the club has been unable to tie the pair down to new contracts is a concern.

Begovic, who just celebrated his 37th birthday, kept 13 clean sheets last season and proved a reliable option between the sticks.

The Bosnian is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. But he has previously stated that whilst he's assessing his options, he'd be keen to stay at the club.

Celtic have been touted with interest in the veteran shot-stopper as they look to replace Joe Hart following his retirement.

Willock, on the other hand, appears to be surveying his options, with Sunderland said to be interested in the midfielder.

The former Arsenal academy graduate was an integral part of QPR's attack last season and is one of the few players in the squad capable of deciding a game by himself.

His departure would be considered a huge loss and QPR only have a matter of days in which to reach an agreement with the midfielder, with his and Begovic's contracts expiring on the 30th of June.

QPR consider move for free agent Kieran Ngwenya

QPR are reportedly considering a move for in-demand free agent Kieran Ngwenya.

Ngwenya previously played on loan with several Scottish sides, including Partick Thistle, and the R's will face competition from north of the border for his signature.

The 21-year-old is a Malawi international and is a free agent after being released by Aberdeen.

The left-back would reportedly join QPR's development squad with a view to first-team involvement in the future.

QPR will undoubtedly bring in reinforcements this summer as Cifuentes looks to build a squad in his image.

But for now, the club's priorities lie in ensuring those players who were integral to the team's success last season remain with the side next year.
