West Ham United face Wolverhampton Wanderers today in a crucial Premier League fixture at the London Stadium.
The Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui will likely not survive in his job if he loses the home match.
The current mood at West Ham is somber after their striker Michail Antonio suffered a horrible car crash at the weekend.
The Jamaica international has had surgery on a broken leg and is currently recovering in a hospital.
The whole football community is wishing the 34-year-old a swift recovery, but West Ham showed pure class by revealing what they will do today.
The Irons’ players will show their support for Antonio by wearing items of clothing bearing the forward’s name ahead of today’s match.
They will warm up in “Antonio 9” jerseys and also walk onto the pitch in tops adorning his name.
The East London club said in a statement: “Our players will show their support for team-mate Michail Antonio tonight, following his road traffic accident on Saturday.
“Ahead of our fixture against Wolves, the players will warm-up in special ‘Antonio 9’ shirts, as well as walking out in tops adorning the striker’s name”.
Antonio joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015 for a fee around £7 million.
The Jamaican quickly established himself as an important member of the first-team and went on to make 323 appearances in all competitions, scoring 83 goals and providing 41 assists.
Antonio also played an instrumental role in helping the Irons win the Europa Conference League in 2022-23, with six goals in nine games.
He has struggled to produce the goods this season, but no one can question his commitment or workrate.
