Christian Pulisic is a pivotal player for AC Milan, and this will not change anytime soon with his numbers continuing to improve.
Since arriving last summer, Milan have often looked to the American winger for inspiration, and they have normally found it. Pulisic has produced on a scarily regular basis, and his first season in Italy was the best of his career – a shock in itself.
A drop in form this season may not have been expected, but perhaps understood, given how good he was last season. However, this has not been the case. Instead, his numbers have continued, if not gotten better, and Pulisic’s importance cannot be understated.
In 15 games this season, the winger has gotten 12 contributions – seven goals and five assists – and should he continue on this path, he will nearly double last season’s record if he plays the same amount of games as last season for the Rossoneri (50).
There have already been calls from the American National Team camp to lessen his minutes, and with the 26-year-old back on international duty, he spoke to the media at a press conference (via Milan News) about his Milan experience so far.
The match against Real Madrid…
“I realised that I have faced Real Madrid eight times in my career, a crazy number in the Champions League. The last game was an incredible effort by the team, my compatriot Musah played a fundamental role in the challenge and everyone saw his importance for the team. Overall it was special to go to a stadium like the Bernabeu and come out a winner.”
The best thing about playing for Milan…
“The best part about being at AC Milan is playing at the San Siro, where there is a special atmosphere. It’s an incredible place to play, very stimulating. All the teams prepare in a special way to challenge Milan there and that makes it even more special.”
The upcoming match against Jamaica…
“I have played against Jamaica a few times in the past and it will be a difficult environment to play in. To this, we have to add that they have a team with good players, a team that has improved a lot in recent years. We have to be ready because it will be a good challenge.
“I think the main objective right now is to beat Jamaica, that’s the only thing we have in mind for now. We have to go step by step, we need a great performance. That’s the only way we can build the foundation for what’s to come and grow as a team, creating what will be our identity and trying to win as many games as possible.”
