Sky Sport Germany reports that PSV have secured the signing of Bayern Munich’s Paul Wanner. The Eindhoven club have gone beyond loan expectations for a permanent deal, paying €15 million plus bonuses.
PSV have reached a full agreement with Bayern Munich for Wanner, who will travel to Eindhoven for a medical on Wednesday evening. The 19-year-old German prospect is expected to be presented soon, with a long-term contract ready at the Philips Stadion.
Wanner’s arrival is a major coup for PSV. After the departure of Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen), technical director Earnest Stewart wanted to add a new attacking midfielder to manager Peter Bosz’s squad, and after a failed attempt with AZ player Sven Mijnans, he has now succeeded.
PSV will pay at least €15 million for Wanner. This amount could increase in the future due to bonuses. It is unknown whether Bayern and PSV have agreed on a release clause. They did agree on a clause for Tillman, allowing Leverkusen to ultimately acquire him for €35 million.
Wanner has been considered one of Bayern Munich’s top talents for years. Previously, he played on loan for SV Elversberg and FC Heidenheim, but the record champions are not yet considering him fit to replace the injured Jamal Musiala. His Bayern contract still has two years to run.
Wanner becomes PSV’s eighth summer signing, following Ruben van Bommel, Yarek Gasiorowski, Dennis Man, Kiliann Sildillia, Alassane Pléa, Nick Olij, and Matej Kovar.
