Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made the first move to bring in Julian Nagelsmann as their next coach following reports that Christophe Galtier will soon be sacked.

The Ligue 1 champions suffered a second successive defeat when they were beaten by rivals Lyon on Sunday, a result which fuelled speculation Galtier will no longer be in charge of the club next season.

And on Wednesday, a report from journalist Abdellah Boulma claimed the club’s hierarchy are “seriously” considering firing Galtier before the end of the season and have approached Nagelsmann about potentially taking over.

Nagelsmann was recently sacked by Bayern Munich and is believed to have plenty of suitors for his signature, with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur both reportedly interested in hiring the German coach.

But if Wednesday’s report is correct, PSG are hoping to be at the front of the queue for the 35-year-old and are prepared to jettison Galtier to make room for the new man.

Les Parisiens are still six points clear at the top of the table and closing in on an 11th Ligue 1 title, but their Champions League exit at the hands of Nagelsmann’s Bayern appears to have left the club’s owners unimpressed with the job done by Galtier since he took charge last summer.

Reports in Germany since his departure from Bayern suggest Nagelsmann will wait until the summer before deciding on his next move, but an attractive offer from PSG could well give him food for thought.
