This past weekend, The Mirror reported that Mohamed Salah is close to finalizing a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, despite ongoing rumors about a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, the situation may not be as clear-cut as it seems.
L’Équipe revealed that PSG had opened talks with Salah’s representatives, sparking further speculation about the 32-year-old’s potential move to Ligue 1. The story quickly gained momentum, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his future.
However, PSG has since denied the claims. A source from the club told the French outlet, “It’s not true.” The report also suggested that the rumors could be a strategic move by Salah to strengthen his position in contract discussions with Liverpool.
For now, it seems Salah is likely to remain at Anfield. TEAMtalk has reported that talks for a new deal are progressing well, with growing confidence that an agreement will be reached soon.

Jamie Carragher believes Salah will sign a new contract with Liverpool, as he won’t receive overwhelming offers from other clubs.
“I love Mo Salah, he’s one of the best players in the world, but the reason I say this is because of his age,” Carragher said on the Stick to Football podcast (h/t The Mirror). “When you’re on that type of money and you’re talking about getting a raise – a raise isn’t 10 or 20 grand a week.
“How many attackers do Real Madrid have, Barcelona are in dire straits financially, PSG are nowhere near the team Liverpool are – there are only four or five teams that can realistically win the Champions League and Liverpool are one of them.
“He will stay as I’m not sure there are too many options. He’s not ready to go to Saudi [Arabia] – he can do that in three years’ time. Salah is that driven as a footballer to win the record of most goals – or whatever that may be for Liverpool.”
