PSG Joins Chelsea and Manchester United on Alarming Negative Net Transfer Spending List | OneFootball

Over the past decade, Paris Saint-Germain have spent heavily in the transfer market, bringing in big names like Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr., Randal Kolo Muani, and Gonçalo Ramos, among others.

However, the club has struggled to generate significant transfer income, mainly from players who no longer fit into their plans.

Offloading older, high-wage players has proven difficult, which likely explains why PSG ranks among the top three clubs with the most negative net transfer spending (-€991 million) on a list that Football Observatory produced.

Nonetheless, the Parisians don’t own the top spot as they’re No. 3 on the list with Chelsea coming in at No. 2 (-€1.209 billion) and Manchester United having the top spot at (-€1.304 billion).

What could be seen as a positive for the Ligue 1 side is that they’re focusing on young talent that they can easily sell and secure a reasonable sum should the situation not work out.

PSG was able to sell Hugo Ekitiké and Manuel Ugarte because of their young age and potential to work out elsewhere another club will invest funds to buy them.

If this is the approach the French giants intend to take the next decade could be a little different as they could sell players if they don’t work out and not have the trouble of moving off from them as they have done in the past.
