Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi.
The Ukrainian centre-half has signed on for the next five years at the Parc des Princes, sealing a transfer said to be worth around €63 million, plus another €3 million in possible bonuses.
Zabarnyi made 86 appearances for the Cherries over three seasons before Luis Enrique identified him as a key target for the summer window. Wearing the number six shirt, he becomes PSG’s first-ever Ukrainian player.
He’s the second big signing of the summer for the French champions, following the arrival of goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
From Bournemouth’s point of view, it’s another tidy profit for their recruitment team, following on from the sales of Milos Kerkez to Liverpool and Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.
To fill the gaps left by Huijsen and Zabarnyi in central defence, Lille defender Bafodé Diakité from Lille is in the UK for a medical ahead of his expected move.
