There will most likely be a lot of shake-up from the current squad to the starting XI for the 2025-2026 campaign. Even so, the presence of Marco Asensio appears to be lining up to become a mainstay at Aston Villa. His parent club, PSG, appears more than willing to part ways with the Spaniard. Considering the current relationship with the club, he appears more interested in staying in Birmingham than exploring other potential options.

Víctor Eduardo García, a writer for Spanish outlet Diario Qué!, reported that the midfielder is not interested in joining La Liga sides Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad. It should be surprising that others are expressing interest in Asensio's ability. For now, it appears that he is not reciprocating those initial outreaches.

Instead, his time with Unai Emery and in B6 seems to be enough for him to want to stay in England and continue to make progress with Villa. A former Real Madrid and PSG player, he has seen what successful clubs look like and how they operate. Despite the lack of trophies, he likely knows and believes that AVFC are on the right course for silverware themselves.

Still in his prime at 29, Asensio's aim is to be in a club that allows him to contribute and chase trophies. Being somewhere that has given him something of a second career life and is coming close to overcoming that silverware hurdle plays a part when making these types of decisions.

As is known, there are always a number of factors at play. Particularly with potential PSR rulings about to affect the club. The financial aspect is an important one to consider. Total Villa shared on X Fabrizio Romano's input, in which the reporter stated that the salary makes signing Asensio more doable than that of Marcus Rashford.

Decision could be made based on money factor

If it comes down to a choice between the two, while the England international adds more upside and burst up top, Asensio could see his return to Villa based on a lower number. Sticking below the mandated limits of Financial Fair Play and otherwise will have to be a high consideration point moving forward.

Asensio, too, has shown a lot since arriving in January. If it's close, they'll likely happily go with an agreement for the PSG player. In any event, it appears that he would like to stay, and it's known how much Emery enjoys being able to turn to him. For now, it appears he'll be able to continue to do so.
