It was a point that we wanted and earned with personality and grit: Inter Primavera drew 2-2 away to league leaders Roma, in an intense and competitive game. It was a dynamic contest and Inter were 2-0 down at the half: after the break the Nerazzurri, fuelled by the energy of their subs, found a great comeback, that earned a point for Zanchetta's side. Inter began the game well, and the Nerazzurri were very lively in the first few minutes. Zanchetta's boys had hold of the play, and the ball, and above all they were trying to get through down the left wing. The first chance came in the 9th minute, with Zouin's cross into the box, but there was no-one to get on the end of it. This then happened again, with De Marzi blocking Berenbruch's cross before Seck then defended Zouin's cross in the 14th minute. Inter continued pushing for an opening: in the 17th minute, Berenbruch won a corner from which Romano prevented a great chance on the slide. The ball then made its way to Cocchi who crossed deep to Zanchetta, who couldn't quite manage to reach the ball. The game changed in the 19th minute: Roma, who up until this point had only attempted one long-range strike through Coletta, got on the counter attack and Romano had an effort from way out. His strike, which was slightly deflected, was pushed away by a great save from Calligaris: the ball then found Della Rocca who shot over from two yards out. Just a little later, however, Roma got in front through Coletta, who did well to recover the ball in the midfield and lead the break: he was also the player who struck home from the edge of the area, beating Callagaris with a finish that went in off the post. Roma were 1-0 up and it changed the game: in the 24th minute, the Giallorossi found some open space and Almaviva tried a cross from the left. The ball found Mannini, who then crossed himself, forcing Alexiou to head it out for a corner. The ball then found Della Rocca at close range: the Roma player must have thought he scored but Calligaris saved with great reflexes. In the 30th minute, Roma were dangerous again from a corner with Romano attempting a bicycle kick, but it was just wide. Inter then tried to get back into it with a few different chances through Cocchi on the left, but they weren't able to produce any shots on goal. In the 36th minute, Roma made it two, with Graziani getting in behind and finding Della Rocca who was one-on-one with Calligaris: Garonetti's intervention wasn't enough and it was 2-0 to the Giallorossi. At the end of the half, Inter tried to regain courage with Berenbruch's long-distance effort which De Marzi then pushed behind. At the break, Roma were two ahead. The break began with Inter's double change: Zanchetta subbed on Topalovic and Mosconi in place of Venturini and Zouin, aiming to turn around the game. The Nerazzurri got going with a different sort of energy, exploiting Mosconi's liveliness. In the 49th minute, Cocchi had an effort, but it was saved by De Marsi who had to be helped out by a teammate to clear the danger. Five minutes later, Roma had a great chance, with Della Rocca who opted to set up Marchetti on the right instead of shooting: his shot was over. One minute later, a reinvigorated Inter found the goal that re-opened the game: Cocchi tried to weave into the box, and his heavy touch found Topalovic after a deflection. The Slovenian struck from the edge of the area and beat De Marzi at his near post: 2-1, and the Nerazzurri kept building. Just two minutes later, Zanchetta's side found the equaliser: Cocchi had a good effort from a free kick on the left, but the second ball found Mosconi who headed home to make it 2-2. Inter than had the momentum and pushed on. Zanchetti subbed on Lavelli and Pinotti for Spinaccè and De Pieri (who had some injury issues): in the 74th minute, Lavelli got free of his marker in the midfield and he dashed towards the Giallorossi's box. At the edge of the area, he fainted a few times before eventually shooting: his effort was parried on the dive by De Marzi. The ball did stay in play though, and it found Berenbruch, whose effort was blocked by the keeper. Inter were organised and driven, and they began to seemingly control the game, without finding the goal to put us in the lead: in the 81st minute, however, Roma had an effort from range through Marazzotti, but Calligaris saved. On the flip side, De Marzi made a great save to deny Mosconi after some great solo play. The resulting corner found Bovo, who from two yards out tried a backheel but the keeper pushed it away for another corner. In fact, these were the last real chances of a game played at a high tempo and with real intensity: in the end, the two sides slowed down after giving everything for the whole game.
And so, Roma vs. Inter finished 2-2: it was a point won with plenty of heart and grit from the Nerazzurri, who, in their last two games against Sampdoria and Cesena, will fight to finish the regular season in second place.
