The Los Angeles Galaxy's chances of making the postseason this year are hanging by a thread. Another loss or tie would put the defending MLS Cup champions further out of contention.
They enter this weekend still at last place in the MLS Western Conference standings. Their 16-game winless streak to begin the regular season doomed the LA Galaxy from the start.
Inter Miami was the top seed in the MLS Eastern Conference standings a year ago. They lost in the first round of the playoffs to Atlanta United.
Luckily for the LA Galaxy, they have never lost to Inter Miami during the regular season before. The six-time MLS Cup winners are 1-1-0 against Miami after playing them twice.
After missing the last two games for Miami, star player Lionel Messi returns. He and his teammates will be hosting another international sensation in Marco Reus.
The former Borussia Dortmund legend has been one of the biggest contributors on offense for the LA Galaxy during a down season. In his first full season with the team, Reus has been named Player of the Month thrice (May, June, and July).
Novak Micovic will be playing in goal for the first time against Miami. John McCarthy, the LA Galaxy's starting keeper from last year, made the 2024 Save of the Year in the season opener against Miami.
Per usual, this game is available on MLS Season Pass. It can also be streamed from the Apple TV and Apple TV+ platforms.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (ET) and 4:30 p.m. (PT) at Chase Stadium in Miami, Florida. Inter lost their last match after winning three in a row beforehand.
