Inter Milan will look to top Group E at the Club World Cup when they face River Plate at Lumen Field on Wednesday.
They recorded a 2-1 success over Urawa Red Diamonds in their last game, while the Argentinian side drew 0-0 with Monterrey in their previous outing.
Inter suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final last month.
The result ended Simone Inzaghi’s time as manager, and he has been replaced by Cristian Chivu.
Chivu’s side was held to a 1-1 draw by Monterrey in their Club World Cup opener, but they staged a comeback against Urawa to pick up three points.
River Plate are in control of their knockout destiny. They are at the top of the group, ahead of Inter, due to a marginally superior goal difference.
Marcelo Gallardo’s side eased past Urawa in their opening match after goals from Facundo Colidio, Sebastian Driussi and Maximiliano Meza.
They dominated against Monterrey, but were unable to break the deadlock.
Denzel Dumfries, Hakan Calhanoglu, Marcus Thuram, Davide Frattesi, Yann Bisseck, Benjamin Pavard and Piotr Zielinski are all sidelined for Inter.
Three River Plate players are suspended for the game. Kevin Castano picked up a red card against Monterrey, while Enzo Perez and Giuliano Galoppo received their second bookings of the competition.
Inter Milan: Sommer; De Vrij, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Esposito, Martinez.
River Plate: Armani; Montiel, Martinez Quarta, Diaz; Acuna; Fernandez, Kranevitter, Aliendro; Mastantuono, Colidio, Meza.
Inter have been unconvincing in the tournament, but they look equally matched with River. A draw is the most likely outcome.
Inter Milan 1-1 River Plate.
